Ukrainian spy drones spotted the cemetery in the village of Golvochino, underscoring the scale of Putin’s battlefield casualties.

Reconnaissance flights conducted by a Ukrainian intelligence unit based in a secret bunker near the border filmed dozens of damaged military hardware dumped in a field.

A single image of the site showed 57 vehicles, including at least 17 tanks.

More drone images have now been shared with The Sun, showing at least 15 other tanks in a neighboring yard, as well as 19 armored personnel carriers, three towed howitzers and 58 other trucks.

Defense expert Rob Lee, who has tracked Russia’s battlefield losses. said: “This shows that there is more that we have not publicly recorded.”

Russia claimed the site was shelled by Ukraine three days after the drone flight.

Earlier satellite imagery confirmed that there were no vehicles on the site of the village of Golovchino when Putin unleashed his invasion on February 24, and only a handful on March 17 when the botched invasion stalled.

The Sun was given exclusive access to the Ukrainian team, which uses a catapult to launch its Ukrainian-built Leleka drone into Russian airspace on a daily basis.

It comes as Russia continues to miss its war goals, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said after a visit to the capital, Kyiv.

Speaking at a press conference on the border with Poland after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the top US diplomat added that a “sovereign, independent Ukraine” “will be around much longer than Russia’s Putin is on the scene.”

Washington has approved a £130 million ammunition sale to Ukraine, along with £251 million in foreign military financing.

“The strategy we have put in place – massive support for Ukraine, massive pressure on Russia, solidarity with more than 30 countries participating in this effort – is showing real results,” he said.

“When it comes to Russia’s war aims, Russia fails, Ukraine succeeds.

“Russia’s main goal was to completely subjugate Ukraine, to deprive her of her sovereignty, to deprive her of her independence. That failed.”

He said Russia has “tried to assert the power of its military and its economy” but sees “just the opposite: a military that is dramatically underperforming, an economy – as a result of sanctions, as a result of a mass exodus from Russia – that lies in ruins.”

He also said Russia’s attempt to “divide the West and NATO” had failed.

Blinken also confirmed that US diplomats would return to Ukraine next week to take up positions at their embassy in Kyiv.

This was the first visit by a senior US official since Russia invaded Ukraine.

He was joined by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
