The Story of a Craft Beer Pioneer

Dogfish Head, the brewery based in 1995 in Rehoboth Seashore, Del., by Sam Calagione and his spouse, Mariah Calagione, has gone on to develop into a number one craft brewer releasing dozens of beers every year. Situated in Milton, Del., it’s now a subsidiary of The Boston Beer Firm and has added a distillery, a number of eating places and an inn. How a child kicked out of prep faculty completed all of it is the spine of “The Dogfish Head Guide,” a brand new overstuffed ebook that chronicles the trajectory. Mr. Calagione went from home-brewed cherry pale ale to an organization that produces greater than a quarter-million barrels of beer a 12 months. Most of the beers, together with the archaeologically researched Midas Contact Historic Ale, are described intimately, together with feedback from followers and workers.
“The Dogfish Head Guide: 26 Years of Off-Centered Adventures” by Sam Calagione, Mariah Calagione and Andrew C. Greeley (Wiley, $35).
