The Starbucks app is down as an outage leaves frustrated coffee drinkers unable to get their caffeine fix

An apparent outage of the Starbucks app has left some coffee drinkers frustrated and unable to get their caffeine fix.
Reports of the coffee company’s app going down began piling up Saturday morning, just as many on the East Coast began heading out for their morning cuppa.

According to website Downdetector, users reporting problems with the Starbucks app began to spike around 6 a.m. EST on Saturday morning.
As of 9 a.m. EST, the number of complaints continued to mount, more than three hours since the reports flew in.
Of the complaints filed with Downdetector, 94 percent related to problems with the app.

Another 5 percent of complaints were registered on the Starbucks website and 1 percent were reported at checkout.
An outage detection map showed that most of the problems so far have been reported in East Coast cities.
Users in New York City and Washington particularly felt the app was unavailable.
But reports also surfaced in Minneapolis as Americans living in the central time zone began to wake up.
As of 10 a.m. EST, the map showed significantly fewer reports on the West Coast, but for many Starbucks users, the morning is just beginning there.
The Starbucks app allows users to place and pay for their coffee orders remotely.

Also, users can save their Starbucks Rewards card to their phone.
This is at least the second time in the last two weeks that the company’s customers have experienced outages in the app.
