“The Sopranos” fans will recall the sudden and rather impromptu passing of Dr. Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco) in Season 6, Episode 20, “The Blue Comet.” After being scolded by her colleagues at a dinner party (which included her own therapist, played by Peter Bogdanovich, in the company), Dr. Melfi decided to cut ties with the attacker. Robbed Tony Soprano, with whom she served as a therapist for the entire show.

But, as revealed in a recent episode of Podcast “Talking Sopranos”, Oscar and Emmy nominee Lorraine Bracco said she felt unsatisfied with the way her character left the series. (Over time.)

“I just feel that [creator David Chase] want me to escape [Tony Soprano]. I wanted it to make more sense,” she told podcast host, “Sopranos” stars Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa. “I mean, I think she’s interested in Tony. Even though he protested and he’ll probably never be really straight… I think she really cares about him. You don’t spend seven years with someone and get rid of them. I felt bad about that. ”

Bracco added that she “didn’t like the way [Chase] ended “her character’s relationship with Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), adding that “it was rough” and “suddenly”. That said, she still looks at the show with gratitude and admiration. “We can honestly say it has kept its beauty.”

Bracco also looks back at the show’s iconic ending, which, for some viewers, was much more abrupt than Dr. Melfi’s exit.

“Part of me said, ‘Wow, it’s the genius of David Chase that we’re still talking about this and confused about it 25 years later,’ the other part said to me, ‘Okay. David was talking. , F**k you. Night is full of night. I’m out of here, ” said the actress. it. So be brave, David.”

Many viewers have recently discovered (or rediscovered) “The Sopranos” with the release of Warner Bros./HBO Max movie “Many Saints of Newark.”
