The San Diego earthquake rocks buildings with a magnitude 4.2 tremor that’s felt throughout Orange County and Southern California

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA was struck by a 4.2 magnitude earthquake that shook buildings.
San Diego residents flooded social media with reports of the quake, which was also felt in neighboring Orange and Riverside counties.

The quake struck near the Palomar Observatory, which is about 65 miles from downtown San Diego.
“I heard a rumble before I felt the latch,” one person wrote.
Another person described the tremor as “in two tremors.”
“I was standing in the doorway talking to my sweetheart when the alarm clock buzzed throughout the house for a few seconds and then beeped,” another person wrote.


“We felt it in Escondido just as our earthquake alarm went cuckoo!!” an Escondido resident told ABC 10.
“The dogs were freaking out — running around and barking at it.”
The US Geological Survey initially said the quake was estimated at 4.5.
So far there have been no reports of serious damage or injuries.
An estimated 20.3 million people may have felt faint from mild tremors, the USGS said.
The National Weather Service in San Diego confirmed the quake, adding that two tremors were felt in the office.
“No tsunami expected,” they said tweeted.
