The Premier League cult hero and former Man Utd transfer target was lined up for the MLS transfer after being named a free agent

Reports suggest PREMIER LEAGUE cult hero Teemu Pukki could be in the running for a move to MLS.

The Finnish forward is a free agent after leaving Norwich City at the end of the season.

Pukki, 33, spent five years at the Canary Islands and helped the club to two Premier League promotions since joining from Brondby in 2018.

During his five years at the club, he scored 88 goals in 204 appearances for the Norfolk club.

The former Manchester United target is now on the hunt for a new club and could move across the Atlantic.

MLS team Minnesota United wants to improve their attacking capabilities, and accordingly Pioneer Pressthey approach Pukki’s engagement.

The report said the club are “close to signing” the striker.

Pukki had previously stressed that he was hoping for a move back to the Premier League.

He said after the final game of the season: “If there’s a Premier League club that wants me then that could be an option but we’ll see.”

“There have always been talks and offers, but there is nothing I would sign now. I don’t know where it will end up next season.”

“We’ll see what happens. I need a break from football and probably won’t be replying to my agent for a few weeks.”

“If he calls about something other than football then I’m interested, but not about football.”

Nonetheless, it looks like he is now set to move to MLS, although he won’t be able to officially join the club until the summer transfer window opens on July 5.

With the MLS season still underway, Minnesota is among the worst scorers in the Western Conference.

The club have netted just 15 goals in 17 games, a tally only better than bottom two, LA Galaxy and Colorado Rapids.
