The Originals confirmed it will be leaving Netflix in June 2022

After hearing about all the CW show cancellations, we were hoping to hear some good news. But I think when it rains it pours. Unfortunately, we just found out The original will be leaving Netflix very soon. How soon? Spring, The original Seasons 1-4 will leave the streamer this June.

The first season of the fantasy series came to Netflix in 2014. Then we watched a new season on Netflix every year until the show ended in 2018. The fifth and final season came to Netflix in August 2018, and the clock immediately started ticking as to when the show would leave Netflix. The CW and Netflix used to have a deal where new seasons of CW shows would come to the streamer shortly after each show’s season finale aired. Once a CW show came to an end and the final season retired on Netflix, the show remained exclusive to the streamer for five years. Happily, The original was part of the deal.

Since the last season of The original was released on Netflix in August 2018, five years later would be August 2023. We had predicted that the entire fantasy series would leave Netflix in August 2023, but it looks like seasons 1-4 are leaving earlier than expected.

When is The Originals leaving Netflix?

The original Seasons 1-4 are scheduled to leave Netflix on Thursday, June 30, 2022. That means the last day you can watch the first four seasons of the fantasy series on Netflix is ​​June 29th. I think you have enough time to watch seasons 1-4 on Netflix before they leave if you give yourself some time. When the fifth season will leave Netflix is ​​still unclear. But there’s a chance season five will depart on the same day.

Where will The Originals stream next?

As of May 25, it’s unknown where the fantasy series will stream next. However, we think there’s a good chance it will make the move to HBO Max with the newer CW shows. We’ll just have to wait and see what the show’s distributor (Warner Bros. Television Distribution) decides.
