THE Premier League have unveiled their 2022-23 Nike match ball – and it’s a stunning retro throwback.
The game schedules for the coming season were published early Thursday morning.
And the official Premier League Twitter account followed shortly after by sharing two images of the new match ball.
Nike’s 2022-23 project is inspired by the iconic Miter Pro-Max ball from 1992-93, used for the very first Prem campaign, even with the navy, red and gold arrows.
The Premier League shared a sneak peek at the ball on Twitter with the caption: “Inspired by first PL season 30 years ago.
“The New Nike Flight PL Ball 2022-23. Released July 15.”
Supporters flocked in their thousands to have their say… but most were less focused on the ball and more focused on one particular Manchester United striker.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored 18 goals in his debut season in the top flight – and confident fans are sure he’ll have a big day with the retro ball.
One tweeted: “Ronaldo will take this ball home in every game.”
Another predicted: “Cristiano Ronaldo takes home first ball, opening day hat-trick.”

And it was a common theme, with different club fanbases speaking for Manchester City’s new signing Erling Haaland and even shy Chelsea ace Timo Werner.
However, some pointed out that it was less “inspired” by Miter and more of a replica.
One joked, “Have Miter’s attorneys reached out yet?”
A second wrote: “They just redesigned the 2020-21 ball and copied the pattern from the Miter ball.”
A third claimed: “Miter wants her ball back.”
