The neighbors pounce on the nuclear bunker plans of the apocalypse-obsessed millionaire

An apocalypse-obsessed millionaire has angered neighbors with her plans for a massive nuclear shelter under her mansion.
Lavinia Jacobs, 42, wants a 15-room nuclear fallout shelter with airtight, blast-proof doors.

A building application states: “The work includes the excavation, shelling and pouring of a reinforced concrete nuclear bunker basement.”
The accommodation would include four bedrooms, a kitchen and storerooms, a study and an access tunnel to their £10million property in Rye, East Sussex.
The project is said to cost hundreds of thousands of pounds and take months to complete.
Ms Jacobs – whose late father was Swiss chocolate mogul Klaus Jacobs – is said to already have a nuclear bunker in another of her homes in Switzerland.

The application relates to the Grade I listed Leasam House, built in 1800 and situated on 57 acres.
It was filed in June after Vladimir Putin’s Russian troops invaded Ukraine and the threat of nuclear war increased. A decision has not yet been made.
Janet Warren wrote on the Rother Borough Council website that potential damage to the home, garden and environment “far outweighs any dubious utilitarian purpose that development will serve.”
A local told The Sun: “All the construction equipment and transport needed to get the job done will be right on our doorstep.”
Another said: “We never see Lavinia here.
“I suppose she must be worried about what Putin is up to.
“I’m not sure he has Rye in his sights though.”
Ms Jacobs was asked for comment yesterday.
