The national security attorney was shocked by the arrest of leaker Jack Teixeria and the “strong and serious” violation that earned him Pentagon documents

OFFICIALS are still scratching their heads after sensitive information was leaked in a “serious” Pentagon break-in – and what’s even more baffling, the 21-year-old is at the center of the mess.
Jack Teixeria, known online as Jack the Dripper, was indicted on Friday on two counts under the Espionage Act.

A look at his family history revealed that his stepfather served in the 102nd Intelligence Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, the same unit that Teixeria served.
His mother supported veteran charities for several years and celebrated her son’s career path.
On the surface, Teixeria appeared to be the picture of an all-American man, but some of his friends told outlets like the Washington Post that his views on the military had changed.
He is accused of sharing hundreds of secret documents with around 20 young men and teenagers on a Discord gaming server he moderates.

According to Teixeria, the reason for this was to uncover the elusive forces that run world affairs—or so he said.
Investigators believe he allegedly leaked the documents to cement his status as leader of the group known as Thug Shaker Central.
How Teixeria received one of the highest security clearances in the country – one that requires a person to be extensively screened for months while investigators go through your entire history – was so he could do his job, to protect the sealed Infranet system at Otis Air Force Base to wait for Cape Cod.
However, screening standards vary by agency, meaning Air National Guard personnel may not be subject to the same standards as the CIA.
It is believed that Teixeira also allegedly copied text from classified documents and began printing them out and taking them home, according to investigators.
“The physical security breakdown here appears strong and serious,” said Bradley Moss, an attorney specializing in national security, federal employment and security clearance, based on a review of public reports on the case.
“It is imperative for post-audit to assess where the process broke down, causing no one to realize he removed the records.”
Teixeira was defended by figures such as Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who described him as “a white, male Christian, and anti-war.”
“That makes him an enemy of the Biden regime,” she wrote.
Tucker Carlson also criticized Teixeira’s arrest Thursday by armed FBI agents at his home.
“It’s difficult to really quantify the scale of the threat, and part of the problem is simply that repugnant political views aren’t really a security issue. It’s more of a personnel issue,” Moss said, adding that the vetting process was not designed “to flesh out the details of an individual’s personal political leanings.”
“That’s on purpose: the government is largely forbidden to take your political views into account in this context, unless it implies a separate concern [such as criminal conduct],” he said.
Another problem with the verification process is the sheer number of government employees with access to top-secret intelligence materials — a number that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence says is over a million.
Brianna Rosen, a former White House official, said it was a result of the September 11 attacks, where intelligence shortcomings that allowed the hijackers to succeed were a failure to share information with law enforcement.
“It’s a double-edged sword because in a way, the lack of that kind of information sharing contributed in part to 9/11,” Rosen said.

“As a result of all these increased information-sharing programs, you have a situation where a large number of people have access to sensitive information that they probably shouldn’t have access to and which may not have been reviewed as thoroughly as it should have been.” should.
“It was really only a matter of time before something like this happened, so this is really a systemic issue that Congress and the Biden administration need to look at more closely.”
