The mystery surrounding the motive behind the Orange County, NC murders of Lyric Woods and Devin Clark deepens when the victim’s mother breaks the silence

THE mother of a murder victim has broken her silence and said “she wants justice” for her teenage son after he was shot dead alongside a 14-year-old girl.
Devin Clark, 18, and Lyric Woods, 14, were found dead from gunshot wounds along a hiking trail in North Carolina over the weekend and police have identified an unnamed 17-year-old as a suspect.

Police say the case remains sealed for now and a motive for the killings remains unknown.
Shant’ae Concepcion of Devin’s mother said in a video on social media that all she wants is justice for her son and Lyric.
“He must have been really angry and had a lot of anger inside him,” Concepcion said of the 17-year-old suspect. “I’m praying for his family at this time because it means a lot to them too.”
She said in the video that she wasn’t told who the suspect is, but wants to know who he is and why it happened.

That process could prove to be a slow, arduous process bogged down in technical legal requirements after a 2019 state law required additional steps to charge 16- and 17-year-old suspects as adults.
For this reason, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office filed a “Juvenile Petition” with the Department of Juvenile Justice and Crime Prevention for two counts of first-degree murder.
The US Sun requested a copy of the petition but was informed by the sheriff’s office that these documents “are confidential and not available for release.”
Devin’s mother said in the video that she hired an attorney to help her through the process.
Posting a collage of photos with Devin, she said: “MY BABY IS TRULY MISS N LOVE AND I WILL KEEP FIGHTING FOR HIM

LOVE YOU Devin Clark DEVIN “DEUCE 2x” CLARK #4..

“
The number 4 refers to his jersey number. One of his friends and his team’s quarterback tweeted a heartfelt tribute.
“Rest in peace with my brother Devin Clark. This doesn’t even feel real, it feels like I threw you the rock just yesterday. I’ll wear that number 4 proudly for you brother. We’ll get a ring for you developer.”
STATEMENT BY THE SHERIFF
Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said in a statement Tuesday, “Through the hard work of my investigators and the assistance of personnel from many other law enforcement agencies, we have identified a suspect in this case.
“We will now work with local, state and federal authorities to apprehend the suspect and bring him to court.”
Due to the sensitivity of the case and the ongoing investigation, the police are unable to release any further information.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Keith Goodwin at (919) 245-2918.
GoFundMe pages have since been set up to help Devin and Lyric’s families with funeral expenses.
