The name comes from law enforcement’s belief that Robinson transported his alleged victims in shopping carts before disposing of their bodies.

Detectives previously said they believe Robinson lured his victims into using dating apps.

On Tuesday, June 14, Dustin Sternbeck, a spokesman for the DC Police, announced that Robinson is now a suspect in the Sonya Champ murder.

The 40-year-old Champ was found dead in a shopping cart in Washington DC on September 7, 2021.

Champ’s death was ruled a homicide and in January Robinson was linked to her murder.

However, no charges have been filed in connection with her case.

A spokeswoman for the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said authorities have not been able to determine how Champ was killed, although her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Washington Post.

Robinson has previously been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two felonies of concealing, transporting or altering a body.

His alleged victims were Allene Elizabeth Redmon, 54, and Tonita Lorice Smith, 39, of Virginia.

The so-called “shopping cart killer” has also been linked to the killings of two other women found in a trash can in December: Cheyenne Brown, 29, of Washington DC, and Stephanie Harrison, 48, of California.

No charges were brought in these two murders.

Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis held a press conference on the “Shopping Cart Killer” in December 2021 and said:

“He’s a predator like all serial killers and it’s our combined effort in law enforcement to do everything we can, with each other and with the community, to identify other places he’s been so we can bring closure and.” ultimately bring justice.”

Robinson is scheduled for a September 12 court hearing.
