School Boy Tim Doty said the suspect called 911 around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The alleged murder occurred on McCutcheon Hallon’s West Lafayette campus, CBS4 reported.
Varun of Indianapolis was about a month away from his 21st birthday.
Police have not released the suspect’s name.

School officials said there was no active threat to the community.
The investigation into the student’s death is ongoing.
One student told CBS4 that other students on the same floor were awakened by a “scream or loud noise.”
The university has around 50,000 students.
Purdue President Mitch Daniel said in a statement: “As President of Purdue, but even more so than myself, I assure you that the safety of our students on our campus is the number one priority.
“Purdue is an exceptionally safe place on any given day, and compared to cities with Purdue’s population (approximately 60,000 combined), we experience a tiny fraction of the violent and property crime that occurs elsewhere.

“Statistics like that are no consolation on a day like this. A death on our campus and in our Purdue family deeply affects each of us.”
The school will reportedly provide counseling and support services to students following the alleged murder.
