The mother of University of Idaho murder victim Kaylee Goncalves makes a tragic confession at the trial of suspect Bryan Kohberger

THE family of murder victim Kaylee Goncalves have spoken out as they prepare to face their alleged killer in court.
Bryan Kohberger, 28, is accused of fatally stabbing Kaylee, 21, and three other University of Idaho students in an off-campus apartment last November.
He was charged earlier this week and now the Goncalves family are preparing to see him at the upcoming court hearing.
But Kaylee’s mom, Kristi, told it abc news She will not expose herself to the most gruesome testimonies at trial.
“I’m not going to scar myself,” she said.
“I have my own visions to deal with.”

In the interview, Kristi also recalled the first time she saw her daughter’s alleged killer.
“I was completely blown away,” she said.
“Actually, I almost thought I was going to pass out.”
But Kaylee’s father, Steve, was keen to see Kohberger in court.
“He’ll realize that it’s the family that will make sure he doesn’t get away with it,” the father said.
Kristi also expressed mixed feelings about plans to demolish the apartment building where Kaylee was killed.
“I’m glad no one else is going to live in it,” she said.
“(But) honestly it’s going to be very diverse for me because my daughter lived in that house. She lived a happy life in this house, she loved living there with her friends.”
Kristi said the move to demolish the building reminded her how horrific Kaylee’s murder was.
“For them to say, ‘No, we don’t want family in here, we don’t want anyone living here. It has to be demolished’ – that’s definitely not happy.”
Steve said he once spoke at a celebration of life with Kaylee’s roommates who survived the attack.
“We have some family members who are reaching out,” he said.

“It’s good to make sure anyone going through something like this has someone to help them.”
Kohberger is expected to appear in court on Monday to file a lawsuit.
