Taylen Mosley was nowhere to be found after his mother, Pashun Jeffery, 20, was found dead at her St. Petersburg home.

Police described Jeffery’s murder as “very violent.”

On Thursday afternoon, Florida police officers sent out a statewide Amber Alert for the missing boy, deploying sniffer dogs, drones and search teams.

A day later, on Friday, authorities made a terrifying discovery.

A few miles from Taylen’s home in Lake Maggiore, police officers saw an alligator “with an object in its mouth,” St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway said.

When authorities made the grim realization that the object was an infant, an officer shot the alligator, who then dropped the body.

“We were able to recover Taylen’s body intact,” the chief said.

And the alligator was later euthanized.

Taylen’s cause of death has not yet been released, and it’s unclear if the alligator played a role in his death.

“We’re sorry it had to end like this,” Chief Holloway said.

After the discovery of Mosley’s body, the boy’s father, Thomas Mosley, 21, was arrested for allegedly killing his child and Jeffery.

The suspect walked into his mother’s home around 9 p.m. Wednesday with cuts on his arms and hands, Holloway said.

He then checked himself into the hospital, where he stayed Friday night.

Chief Holloway said that “the father doesn’t talk to us”.

Jeffery and her son were last seen by their relatives around 5.20pm on Wednesday.

Later that night around 8:30 p.m., Jeffery’s neighbors reportedly heard loud commotion near their home, but authorities were not called.
