TUESDAY’s Mega Millions jackpot has grown into one of the largest in its history as the winner of today’s Powerball draw could take home $201 million.
In fact, the jackpot, $565 million, or a cash prize of $293.6 million, is now the sixth largest prize in the game’s 20-year history.

In a press release over the weekend, Mega Millions announced: “While Christmas is over, the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever offered in the last week of a calendar year will be available for Tuesday, December 27th.
“The estimated prize rises to $565 million ($293.6 million in cash) after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn – the white balls 15, 21, 32, 38 and 62 and the gold one – on Friday night mega ball 8
“If the jackpot is hit on Tuesday, it would be the 6th biggest win in the history of the game!”
The jackpot has grown since two tickets sold in California and Florida won a combined prize of $502 million on October 14th.


“In the 20 draws since then, there have been more than 15 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including 35 worth $1 million or more,” Mega Millions said.
“These grand prizes were won in 18 different states from coast to coast: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia West Virginia.”
The top five Mega Millions jackpots to date are $1.537 billion in October 2018, $1.337 billion in July 2022, $1.050 billion in January 2021, $656 million in March 2012 and $648 million in dollars in December 2013.
The Mega Millions draws take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11pm EST.
To win the jackpot, players must match all six numbers to the winning numbers drawn.
According to the Mega Millions website, players have a 1 in 302,575,350 chance of winning the jackpot.
However, there are smaller prizes ranging from $2 million to $1 million for those who match some numbers.

Meanwhile, the winner of Monday night’s Powerball drawing could win a $201 million prize with a cash value of $105 million.
Each drawing is streamed live from the Florida Lottery Studio in Tallahassee every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59pm ET.
Players choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26.
Players can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x with the Power Play option for an additional $1 per game.
According to the Powerball lottery website, the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9 million and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
More money is added to the Powerball jackpot until someone wins it.
If you win today’s jackpot, the prize winners will have a wide choice of days to collect their winnings.
Depending on your state, tickets typically expire between 90 days and a year.

All unclaimed prizes will be retained by the lottery jurisdiction.
