The Matrix Awakens Poster Leaks On PSN, Teases “The Unreal Engine 5 Experience”

A poster for Matrix Awakens has arrived on PSN, seems to be teasing some kind of “Unreal Engine 5 experience “for PS5. With The Matrix Resurrections opening in less than three weeks and The Game Awards coming up, it looks like we’ll be learning more about this mysterious project soon.

The leak was made its way on Reddit recently, with posters showing a modern city covered in recognizable Matrix green, with lines of digital code all around. The only two things it reveals are the “Awakens” subtitle and the mention of Unreal Engine 5. According to the source, the data was discovered on the PlayStation Network’s backend and is exclusive to PS5. Not much else is known about the current project.

Considering The Matrix: Resurrections releases this month, it’s possible Matrix Awakens isn’t a new game set in the iconic universe, but it could be some kind of cohesive interactive co-op to movie promotion. Looks like this Matrix Awakens project, whatever it really is, could come out in time Game Award on December 9th.

Matrix Awakens isn’t the first time the franchise has forayed into gaming. Several games based on the series have been made, including 2003’s Enter The Matrix, 2005, and 2005’s Path of Neo Online Matrix.


The series’ the fourth chapter, The Resurrection of the Matrix, coming to the cinema and HBO Max on December 22nd. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprise the roles of Neo and Trinity, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play a new version of Morpheus.
