The match between ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC is postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak

The Indian Super League (ISL) has postponed the 61st Match of the 2021-22 season between ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC, scheduled to broadcast tonight (January 15).

The federation has made the decision to postpone the match to be held at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda, earlier today.

This is the second game in a row of ATK Mohun Bagan being postponed. Before that, their January 8th The clash with Odisha FC has been postponed after an ATK player Mohun Bagan tested positive for COVID-19.

Since then, reports have emerged of COVID-19 outbreaks in the camps of several ISL clubs. A statement released by the federation read:

“Each match is judged on a number of factors, including the likelihood of clubs hosting a team; the severity of the COVID-19 incident at the club(s); and the likelihood of club staff to prepare and safely play the competition.”

The statement also added that the federation and related clubs will continue to monitor the situation and act as required. The health and safety of all employees in the various bubbles will take precedence.

The game will be rescheduled to a later date, according to the statement. The tournament has been taking place inside the biobubble in Goa since November 20 last year.
