The longest living dogs have been revealed – with one breed having a life expectancy of almost 13 years. Where is your dog?

Research shows that JACK Russell Terriers are the longest-lived dogs.
With a typical life expectancy of 12.7 years, they topped the life expectancy rankings for our four-legged friends.

Yorkshire Terriers came second with an average life expectancy of 12.5 years, followed by Border Collies at 12.1 years and Springer Spaniels at 11.9 years.
French bulldogs were bottom of the chart at 4.5 years, and other trending flat-faced breeds also fared poorly.
dr Justine Shotton, President of the British Veterinary Association, said the results were worrying.
She added, “It serves as a new reminder for potential dog owners to choose a breed based on health, not looks.”
Researchers compared the age at death of 30,563 dogs from 18 breeds in the UK between 2016 and 2020.
In total, they live about 11 years, according to the Royal Veterinary College study.
Labradors are the most popular breed and typically live to around 11.8 years.
Meanwhile, a study using data from 200,000 owners showed that dog behavior is not due to their breed.
Breed accounts for only about nine percent of a dog’s personality.
Gender, age and education are more important, the University of Massachusetts researchers say.
