A GIRL missing for two years is found in a secret room under the stairs in her grandfather’s house.
When the police found Paislee ShultisThe heartbroken six-year-old asked them if she could go to McDonald’s, where they bought her a Happy Meal.
Police had previously visited the house in Saugerties, New Yorkthey searched several times because they suspected her biological father and mother, Kim Cooper and Kirk Shultis, had long since kidnapped her.
But a trick that led them back to the property and this time they searched underneath the stairs to the basement, after an officer noticed something strange, Saugerties Sheriff Joseph Sinagra said.
Eventually, an officer saw what he thought was a blanket and the police began tearing the steps off the stairs before they realized the “small feet”.
Paislee was hiding in the pit with her mother, and she was taken out and taken to the local police station.
On the way, they passed a McDonald’s and when she told detectives she hadn’t had a McDonald’s in a long time, so they turned around and got her a Happy Meal happiness, CBS2 reports.
Paislee was eventually released and is now reunited with her sister and an unidentified legal guardian.
Sinagra explained that she will now begin the recovery process.
“We’re pretty sure she probably didn’t get proper medical care,” he said.
“Obviously, the family couldn’t get her to the doctor because she was a reported missing person.
“The other concern is that you have a child who can’t write or read because they don’t have the opportunity to go to school. Now they will. ”
The sheriff also explained that it appeared Paislee had her own bedroom with her name written on the wall.
Paislee was last seen in July 2019 at the home of her legal guardians in Spencer, New York.
Sinagra said: “There is a reason they lost custody of the children and added that Paislee’s sister has been with her legal guardian since 2019.
Cooper has been charged with custodial interference in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
Shultis has been charged with interfering with custody of a felony in the first degree and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
His father Kirk Shultis was also charged with first degree custodial interference and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
It is revealed that he lied to the police about how he knew where Paislee was.
