Many people across the country are facing rising costs on all fronts, while certain destinations and certain venues have recommended parking rates in excess of £20 a day.

A study conducted by online parking portal YourParkingSpace.co.uk asked 1,006 motorists whether increasing economic costs would affect planning for the future.

Almost half (48 percent) of those surveyed said they were likely to cancel their plans due to rising parking fees.

Using certain parking apps like YourParkingSpace can save you a tidy sum, while others like appyparking.com and myringgo.co.uk also offer ways to reduce your parking fees.

Parking from 9am to 5pm in Westminster, London can easily cost around £50, while the average price with YourParkingSpace is just £16.

The savings continue when you look at places like Birmingham, York and Edinburgh where you can save around 50-60% on parking fees using the same digital approach.

Brannan Coady, CEO of YourParkingSpace.co.uk, said: “Over the past year we have seen parking fees increase at many community run sites and venues and our research shows this is discouraging families from planning day trips .

“Given the upheaval that many have had to go through in the last three years, we should look at ways to give families more opportunities to experience the moments they may have missed.”

Mr Coady continued: “Our research shows that using YourParkingSpace.co.uk can offer cheaper alternatives to dedicated on-site parking.

“Parents are very resourceful and with a little pre-planning through our website, the family fun can get rolling again.”
