Based on Netflix’s Top 10 Sites“Don’t Look Up” was watched a whopping 111.03 million hours this week alone. That’s obviously a huge amount of hours, but for a deeper look we can see the second movie in the Top 10,”Unforgivable“starring Sandra Bullock, released for Netflix on December 10, 2021. In the same week that “Don’t Look Up” has accumulated over 111 million hours of viewing, “The Unforgivable” has been viewed. Just to be clear, “The Unforgivable” will have to watch another 84.43 million hours to catch up with “Don’t Look Up”.
The film has, to date, not been particularly well received by critics – at the time of writing, “Don’t Look Up” has only 55% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes. In a review posted by GuardiansThis store even went so far as to call it a “disaster”. However, according to the site, audiences have come to love the film a lot more, as it currently holds an audience score of 77%. Moreover, according to a recent Forbes article, there’s a group of (very relevant) people who have taken a liking to the satire – climate scientists.
Overall, it’s clear that the reaction to McKay’s most recent effort has been mixed. What’s also clear, however, is that a lot of people are watching to see the disaster movie unfold – and keep “Don’t Look Up” at the top of the Netflix Top 10 while they do.
