Gerry Turner is a proud father

During Turner’s long marriage to Toni, the couple had two daughters: Jenny Young and Angie Warner.

The new Golden Bachelor is also the grandfather of two of Jenny Young’s granddaughters.

His family has been extremely supportive of his decision to find love again.

In an ABC Press release It was proclaimed, “…with the support of his family, Turner is ready to hit the road and find a love that will stand the test of time in his golden years.”

A promotional video for the show showed how excited Gerry’s daughters are for him to find love.

Turner was married to his late wife Toni in 1974.

The two were married for 43 years before they sadly passed away in 2017.

Speaking to GMA about his wife, Turner said: “She was robbed. Every day that goes by, that’s the thought I have.”

“I have her picture on a dresser in my closet. Every morning I nod to her: ‘What do you think about that?’

“For a while I felt like I was having a hard time figuring out if she was going to be okay. But we always said to ourselves: If one of us leaves, we want the other to be happy.”

On July 17, Gerry Turner was announced as the first bachelor of the highly anticipated new series The Golden Bachelor.

Gerry (pronounced Gary), 71, is a retired restaurateur from Indiana.

Turner’s biography on ABC describes him as someone who is “often busy hosting barbecues, playing pickleball, cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams, driving SUVs and spending time with friends and family at restaurants and bars.”

Turner opened up about his new search for love, he said Good morning America: “It’s never too late to fall in love again.”
