The generous Virgil van Dijk donates money and signs the Carabao Cup final jersey to Holland’s deaf team ahead of the big tournament

VIRGIL VAN DIJK has donated a substantial sum to help Holland compete in the Deaflympics in May.
the Liverpool Defender was inspired to help after discovering his country’s side might not have enough money to participate.
The event is set to take place in Brazil and it is believed the team will need to raise around £75,000 to travel and compete.
According to Dutch newspaper De telegraphVan Dijk, 30, made a big donation to help.
He’s also auctioning off his Sunday shirt victorious Carabao Cup final to collect donations.
Thanks to many generous donations, the team is said to have met more than half of their goal.
Van Dijk is quoted as saying: “I have discussed this with my family and we are happy to help.
“That’s why we support these guys who did a great job going from 21st to 7th in the world rankings.

“I admire the way these guys play their sport.”
While wearing the auctioned shirt on Sunday, Van Dijk was presented with the Alan Hardaker Trophy.
The gong is presented to the man of the match in the EFL Cup Final each year.
It was won by a Manchester City player in each of the last four seasons, with Riyad Mahrez picking him up in 2021.
The last Liverpool player to win it was Stewart Downing when the Reds won the League Cup in 2012.
