‘The Game Is Definitely Evolving:’ Penguins Foundation Hosts Women-Only Clinic With Olympic Athletes – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The push to get more girls interested in hockey took place at the PPG P Paint Arena on Saturday morning before Team America and Team Canada went head to head.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation partnered with DICK’s Sporting Goods to host two women-only hockey clinics in the Penguins’ home.
Girls and women ages 6-19 participated in clinics organized by players from the United States and women players from Canada.

Tessa Nicholson said: “It’s been a great weekend for women’s hockey, especially in Pittsburgh where the sport is definitely growing, so it’s been exciting to have all this talent available here.
After the clinic, the girls stayed around to meet their hockey heroes, take pictures and get autographs.
Then on Saturday afternoon, the United States and Canada went head-to-head in a “Rematch,” a rematch of the gold medal game from the Winter Olympics.

Team Canada won the rematch, just as they did in the gold medal match, but in extra time.
