The Premier League opener between EVERTON and Chelsea was abandoned following a medical emergency in the stands at Goodison Park.

The game reached the last five minutes of regulation time before being called off.

After about three minutes play resumed on Merseyside and added TEN minutes later.

It took eight extra minutes in the first half after Ben Godfrey was sent off through injury.

Everton later tweeted: “We can confirm that Ben Godfrey has sustained a lower leg injury and has been hospitalized.

“We’re all with you @BenG0dfrey!”
