The following contains spoilers from the December 14 episode of Flash.
This week on The Flash, “Armageddon” (as in the five-week event), and hopefully the Armageddon scenario is over. All told, what do you think of the season-opener, not-a-crossover? And what on Earth created that final image mean?
“Armageddon” Season 5 opens with Team Flash seducing Eobard Thawne with ease, then they knock him down at STAR Labs. Seeing that Thawne is fading from the fixed, permanent (for reason) timeline, an argument ensues: Let him go and thus “die”, or save him by shooting kill him at his speed.
Consider the side of “I say, allow plane crash! ” is Mia Queen, who splurged on 2021 while searching for her brother. When Iris later signed up for the feisty Mia privately, the future hero revealed that for two years she had been trying to find William, who had been kidnapped at the end of the year. Arrow ‘“Green Arrow and the Canaries” piloted the backstory of “Green Arrow and the Canaries”.
“I mean, ‘poor William!’ is all I have to say,” sighed Arrowverse vet Katherine McNamara, who reprized the role of Mia this week. “He’s been hostage for two years, so maybe he’s the next supervillain – we don’t know! – or maybe he’s thriving on a tropical island somewhere with a cocktail in hand…. ”
Oliver and Felicity’s daughter also reveals to Iris that her only possible clue to finding William is the “family pet stone”. Hozen that they were holding when he was arrested. Iris suggests Mia contact Felicity for help, but Mia worries that her mother won’t understand how long it took her to find her loved one.
McNamara said: “Mia has lost William and has not necessarily lived up to the mantle of Green Arrow the way she had hoped – and the way she assumed her mother would. “It was hard for her to deal with that, how much [Green Arrow] legacy meant for both her father and mother. ”
Despero also joined Team Kill Thawne, arguing that letting the villains live was to give Armageddon’s slim chance of finally happening. Finally – and after Mia for a moment of temper had turned into Glowy-Eyed, the Assassin controlled by Despero – Chester released some special golden boots for The Flash, for speed players to have can run around Despero and drain its energy. he aimed to actively destroy the Central City. With the aliens disabled, Team Flash took down Thawne, against his will, and locked him up at ARGUS.
A private party for Team Flash ensued, where “in-store chat” was not allowed – until Damien Darhk showed up. He doesn’t mean any harm, just feels like he’s about to disappear from this edited timeline. But before he does, he is briefly and sweetly reunited with his daughter in a purgatory, as Nora returns to her rightful abode among the living.
Previously drew a blade at Damien (who after all killed her friend Laurel… doppelganger, Mia never knew anyone?), Mia shared with Iris that she decided to contact her mother, who is an extremely good hacker, before putting 2021 in her rearview mirror.
“I think Felicity and Mia have always had a contentious relationship, given her upbringing and all the other parental anger that exists in the Queen’s household,” noted McNamara. “But [what Iris said] is exactly what Mia needed to hear. She has to realize that Felicity will understand more than Mia thought she would, and there is a real opportunity there to solve that problem. “
While Joe brushed aside the confused Nora Darhk to ask her what happened, Barry enjoyed Team Flash. But before the CW series goodbye until March 2022, we’ve got an additional scene where, at the CCPD, Bart and Nora suddenly appear in the background of a framed photo from the night party. New Year’s Eve 2014 of the station.
Means…? I don’t know, guess what! Did Thawne’s descent somehow create a ripple effect that left Barry and Iris’ children trapped in the past? (Eh, the return of both Eddie and Ronnie at the end of this season?) Tom Cavanagh did indicates that Thawne will play a long game with his ultimate act of revenge….
Regarding Mia’s next steps after falling in love with Felicity, McNamara said, “If anything we know for sure that Mia won’t rest until she finds her brother, because he’s the one. the last piece of her family [in 2040]. She had promised Oliver that she would take care of William and care for Felicity, and she felt as though she had broken that promise by losing William, and she couldn’t rest until it was fixed. get that. “
But never seeing that mystery solved on any of the remaining Arrowverse shows, did McNamara get a little closed from her visit to The Flash, assuming The CW returns in January chose not to move forward with Green arrow and canary, which will have her, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy?
“I have one small a bit closed,” she told TVLine. “I mean, look, there’s still a lot of Mia’s storyline unresolved, and I’m happy about that. I think at the end of this episode, Mia feels very welcome in this world, and I hope this isn’t the last time we see her.”
The Flash will resume Season 8 on Wednesday, March 9.
