PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Cultural Foundation has a lot planned for people in the city to celebrate the new year tonight.
Highmark First Night 2022 is going well; attracted thousands of people to the Cultural District after the live party was canceled last year due to the pandemic.
Dollar Bank Children’s Fireworks Show Starts Everything at 6PM
The New Year’s Eve Parade marched down Penn Avenue at 8pm. It features performances, giant puppets and surprises for the whole family.
The Family Zone is hosting a Holiday Block Party from 6pm to 11pm where kids can learn and create their own art.
There’s also Fire and Ice Plaza, all-night musical performances, and an Intrude exhibit featuring a giant rabbit and her children. The bunnies are everything anyone downtown is talking about.
“The rabbit is great,” says Marty Spicer, of Oakdale. “This is what brought me down here. I had to see the rabbit. The rabbit is amazing. Great. ”
“People are going crazy about Intrude. This is ‘bunzilla.’ The largest of the Intrude rabbits. Everyone really, really loves them,” said Sarah Aziz, of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
Then, of course, the Future of the Pittsburgh Ball will drop at midnight, and the fireworks finale will welcome in 2022.
