The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office says an officer on duty was grazed during the West Orange shooting

The West Orange Police Department said the sequence of events began just after 3 p.m. at Krauszer’s convenience store at 12 South Valley Road in West Orange.
They say a West Orange Police officer on duty suffered a non-life-threatening injury while trying to intervene in a store robbery.
The suspect opened fire once before fleeing.

The officer was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he is in a stable condition and being treated.
Police said a potential suspect is in custody and a vehicle has been impounded by Newark Police.
Authorities say the injured officer was able to identify the suspect in custody.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating.
