A MISSING student has left a Texas university in shock after disappearing before graduation, his heartbroken family has revealed.
According to a statement from the Amber Alert Network Brazos Valley, Tanner Hoang, 22, was last seen exiting an off-campus apartment complex around 11 a.m. Friday morning.
The Texas mechanical engineering student’s family were in town and worried when he didn’t show up for lunch before the ceremony.
“I thought that wasn’t characteristic of Tanner,” the missing man’s uncle, Quan Hoang, told FOX 7.
“When we have Tanner’s family reunions, he’s there. He’s never been like this.”
Police believe he left town in a silver car heading west.
He is described as 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Authorities are also looking for a 2009 Lexus ES350 with Texas registration BS2 C737.
His family said they were shocked to learn Tanner would not be walking the stage for the graduation, local outlets reported.
Texas A&M confirmed to FOX 7 that his name was not included in the opening ceremony.
Earlier this week, Tanner’s family released surveillance footage showing his vehicle traveling westbound on an off-campus freeway.
He appears to be exiting a Shell service station in nearby Caldwell after being given petrol.
“Considering the fact that he was in a vehicle with a full tank of gas and has been since Friday. Realistically, he could be anywhere,” said Chuck Fleeger of Amber Alert Network Brazos Valley.
“We can be confident that we understand why a person is missing and what they are thinking.
“But until you find them and review the circumstances, it’s really important that people remain vigilant, that we continue to be careful, that we’re doing everything.”
While the circumstances of his disappearance remain a mystery, Tanner’s family has stressed that they just want him home.
“We want him back, we want him back in our house,” Tanner’s uncle Tuan Hoang told KHOU 11.
“We’re just asking everyone to keep praying, we believe in the power of prayer, and we’re asking God to bring Tanner back to us.”
Tanner’s family have been searching for him since his disappearance – and Fleeger said the car could be the key to getting him home.
“The biggest and most visible thing is going to be the vehicle. That’s something people can look for,” Fleeger said.
A Facebook group was created with the purpose of gathering any information that could lead to Tanner’s recovery.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the College Station Police Department.
Right now, Tanner’s family just wants him to hear a message.
“Just let him know that his family loves him, his entire extended family, that God loves him, that he has done nothing to stop us from loving him,” Tuan said.
The CSPD did not immediately respond to The US Sun’s request for comment.
