A new interview with stranger things Series co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer have just arrived! Variety published a session with showrunners overseen by Kate Arthur, and she asks many excellent and engaging questions. If you are curious what we can expect stranger things Season 5, which will be the final season, we have some great information for you below!
The entire interview takes just over 30 minutes, so there’s a lot of information to cover. if you are one stranger things Diehard, then I highly recommend watching the whole thing, but if you don’t have time, we can at least give you a general idea of what the Duffers have to say about the show’s fifth and final season.
Will Stranger Things season 5 be split into two volumes?
The length and number of episodes of the fifth season is determined by the story. Season 4 has been split into two volumes due to the pandemic and resulting delay. Matt and Ross felt the show should be out by May as it would be pushed later.
Episodes 8 and 9 weren’t really finished when Volume 1 dropped because they’re so big and FX-heavy. But Matt also revealed that he kind of likes how the first part of the season has gone down and now they essentially have a huge movie set for release in July as the last two episodes are almost four hours long.
In short, they’ll wait and see how people feel about the breakup before deciding how to release season five. Without the pandemic causing any massive delays (although who knows what the future will bring), if they can get the entire show up and running they may, as usual, release it immediately.
Will Stranger Things Season 5 episodes be oversized?
Again, the answer to that revolves around the storyline and its writing requirements and the way they structure the pacing of each episode. The Duffers spoke about feeling that no episode in Season 4 could have been cut short because of the way the four story arcs were constructed.
How many episodes will there be in Stranger Things season 5?
Similar to the answer above, it’s too early to tell. I expect it will be about the same length of 8 or 9 episodes, but if the episodes don’t require such a strict structure with multiple overlapping storylines, they could potentially split longer episodes into more episodes, so 13 episodes of a shorter one Length than 8 or 9 massive.
The origins of Upside Down will be explored in the final season
We’ll finally learn more about what exactly Upside Down is, how it came about, and more in the final season. In fact, Ross teases that the second half of season 4 will delve into the hierarchy of Upside Down villains like Mind Flayer and Vecna. who is more powerful Is the Mind Flayer still there?
“The only thing we don’t get into in Volume 2 is the lore of Upside Down. We point it out. I’m sure someone on Reddit will be able to put it together, but a lot of these answers for the Upside Down or that really are the basics of Season 5.”
So it sounds like next season’s open questions about the nature of the Upside Down will be answered.
We’ll get answers as to why the Upside Down froze the day Will disappeared
One of the big revelations in season four was that The Upside Down stayed frozen on the day Will Byers went missing in season one.
Ross Duffer talks about how they debated including this in this season because there will be no resolution to the reasoning in Season 4 Volume 2 Upside Down and the story behind it.
stranger things Season 4 Part 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Part 2 will be released on Friday July 1st, 2022.
