The driver overtakes a huge line of cars because he doesn’t know how to read street signs – but viewers are divided

A DRIVER has divided opinions with his enterprising drive through traffic on a dual carriageway – he overtakes hordes of cars queuing as they approach a construction site.

The viral video shows traffic building up on the inside lane of the carriageway, with roadside signs just beginning to appear.

TikToker @Carfectionary uses a dashcam to capture footage of the long line as it moves around the outer lane.

Traffic increases on the left, cars, vans and trucks slow down.

The yellow traffic signs are becoming more and more regular, alerting drivers that the outside lane ahead is closed.

The drivers have over 800 yards left to switch inside, but all choose to do so immediately.

Except for @Carfectionary, who happily walks by and flags the waiting traffic NPCs (Non-Playing Characters) because they can’t think for themselves and just follow the person in front of them.

@Carfectionary’s dashcam car approaches the construction site and pylons begin to mark where the construction site begins.

At this point he changes and switches to the left lane – although a blue Volkswagen Scirocco seems to block his first attempt at first.

The video then has a “Cheers, mate” caption to thank the driver behind it for letting him blend into the inner row of cars.

The clip points to drivers’ lack of understanding of basic rules of the road – while it wouldn’t be advisable for every car to move into a single lane at the same time, the 800-yard marker allows you to thread in gradually.

Although some motorists find that someone who lets it merge until the last moment isn’t really showing consideration for other road users or driving in the right mood.

Viewers are divided, with many taking to the comments section to share their thoughts.

TikTok user TofuShopSenpai said, “I always notice how people don’t understand how to use merge tracks.”

Matt replied: “You know they all moan about you pushing in when that’s literally what you’re supposed to be doing.”

Another user, myself, questioned leaving the merging until this late date, saying, “The fact that everyone else doesn’t does it ends up leaving you at their mercy.”
