The grieving family of the ‘in love’ grandmother-of-eight from Cannon Park, Middlesbrough are now demanding ‘justice’ after local police arrested a motorist.

Patricia’s devastated niece Margo said the family “won’t rest” until her body was flown home while her four sons – John, Kenneth, Dean and Lee – awaited answers.

She told The Sun Online: “The boys want justice for their mother, as you can imagine they are heartbroken. She was their queen.

“Who goes on holiday and doesn’t come home? We’re absolutely devastated.”

Margo, who lived across the street from Patricia, said her aunt had visited Gumbet regularly for the past 25 years and adored the “culture and the people”.

She said the family were shocked on Monday when they received a call telling them their loved one had tragically died.

Margo added: “She was standing on the sidewalk waiting for her friend and a drunk driver got on the sidewalk and hit her and killed her instantly.

“It’s heartbreaking. When we got the call we couldn’t believe it. I think we’re still in shock.

“We will not rest until she is home and we have justice.”

Margo said Patricia, who previously worked in schools, valued her family and also loved animals and donated to charities every month.

She added: “She was fantastic. A brilliant aunt, mother and nana.

“Her granddaughter is expecting a baby in July and she was looking forward to the baby’s birth.

“I live across from her, I saw her every day. She called me and said ‘get my milk and bread in Marg’ when she landed.

“She was a devoted mother of four, a grandmother of eight – she was fiercely protective of her family.”

“WITHOUT YOU WE WILL BE LOST”

Patricia – described by her loved ones as a “loyal friend” – was hit by an allegedly drunk driver in the early hours of Monday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the holidaymaker was tragically pronounced dead.

Margo said her family is now planning a “big” funeral for the beloved grandma.

She added: “Pattie loved life and was active and energetic and still had so much to look forward to.

“We as a family are devastated, shocked and stunned.

“There are no words that can describe our loss.

“She was a huge influence on our family and we will be lost without her.”

The UK Foreign Office has confirmed officials are in contact with local authorities following the incident.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: “We support the family of a British woman who died in Turkey and are in contact with the local authorities.”
