A COMPANY has caused outrage after issuing a notice telling employees they will no longer be provided with water.
The shocking post was posted by a user named harveytheham on the popular social networking site Reddit and has more than 4,000 votes.
It was captioned: “My girlfriend’s workplace just posted this sign in their break room. The company posted record profits last year.”
In the sign, an unnamed company said “we are no longer able to supply water to the team”.
Management added that they had confusingly turned away from the water supply because they had “abused our privilege in doing so”.
Angry users did not hold back their opinions on the ridiculous message.
One person said: “No water? I hope the place catches on fire so they waste money installing a new sprinkler system and paying for all the water they don’t have.”
“Abusing our privilege? It’s water. A fundamental human right.
“What’s next, oxygen?
A third user urged the original poster to “NAME … AND … SHAME” the alleged US-based company.
Other redditors were quick to point out the legitimacy of the situation and offer advice on what to do next.
One said: “It is illegal not to provide drinking water to your employees.”
Another comment, which attracted more than 1,000 likes, said: “This is against labor standards. I want to take a look at it. I was once scolded by a former employer for not providing water.”
As always, there were people who took a more cheerful view of the situation and they quickly started some jokes.
“Well, if later on all you’re going to do is pee out, you have to know that’s going to upset the management,” one quipped.
Another joked: “Answer and tell them you’re not a camel!”
“So make sure you take out your trash daily and don’t flush. Tell them you’re conserving water,” said a third.
