The Classic Great Spider-Man Reference You Missed In Spider-Man: No Way Home

As “Spider-Man: No Way Home” made it clear that every Spider-Man seems to have suffered the heartbreaking loss of their loved ones. When Tom Holland’s version learns of his sheer horror in the movie, that’s pretty much in line with the territory. However, “No Way Home” does not offer a particular Spider-Man a method of redemption, and the moment is certainly not lost for the character.

As Andrew Garfield’s Spidey briefly mentions in the film, his most heartbreaking loss comes in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, when he almost fails to save the life of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). However, in “No Way Home”, he was able to successfully save MJ (Zendaya) from a similar death, after Holland Spidey was temporarily removed from the picture.

While the timing isn’t really detailed, it’s clear that Garfield’s Spider-Man is more shaken by the successful save than by MJ’s fall, to the point where MJ eventually asks the deeply emotional man that he is okay. Of course he is. By saving MJ, Amazing Spider-Man has finally received mild redemption for the apparent failure that has haunted him for years. No wonder the guy lost it in seconds.
