According to Tony Hawk’s official acting credits, plenty for a professional athlete in any sport, one of his first roles when it came to fame as a sportsman young skater in the late 1980s was in “Police Academy 4”, none other than “Skateboarder” (via IMDb). It’s easy to miss his appearance, as his character doesn’t have any lines. He’s the only one featured in a skateboarding montage along with two other young skaters and supporting characters from the film – including David Spadeby Kyle Rumford. The skateboarding clip lasts only a few minutes before Rumford goes to the mall and is confronted by police officers who warn him not to skate earlier in the film.
Hawk will continue to be introduced as himself in many other movies and his own line of video games throughout the early 2000s, but he eventually landed on roles that had nothing to do with skateboarding. Hawk is also known for his role as Caddy Driver in 2002’s “xXx” featuring Vin Diesel and the Astronaut in “Lords of Dogtown”, and he played the gripping character Jake Sullivan in a 2005 episode of the series. “CSI: Miami” is titled “Game Over.” Most recently, Hawk has starred in popular shows such as “Ballers,” “The Masked Singer,” and Nickelodeon’s animated series “The Casagrandes.” via IMDb). Only time will tell how many other roles Hawk will appear in as himself, or if he will take the opportunity again as the other characters move forward.
