Clayton’s quest for love on Bachelor blew up his face spectacularly last week – and now he must do his best to put it back together.
Monday’s penultimate episode will continue after his bad breakup with Susie, with Clayton sitting in a church in Iceland (seeking forgiveness perhaps?) and still reeling from what had happened. “I need someone’s help because I’m so devastated,” he sobbed at the camera. He confides in Jesse – but still says he’s “blind” to what Susie has to say and insists she wants him to fully explore her other relationships. So… it’s all still her fault. Understood! Now he’s decided he’ll be “one thousand percent transparent” with Gabby and Rachel at the rose ceremony. If they really loved him, he thought, they would stick together. Okay to see!
It’s rose time (from hell!), and the two girls are surprised when Susie isn’t there. They were even more surprised when Clayton told them everything: He loved Susie, and he loved both of them – and “I’m very close to both of you, too.” Oh wow. He still sees himself with one of them at the end of this… but he still doesn’t know who it is! (Well, who’s probably the least annoyed with him for all of this.) Both girls dashed off in different directions, and Susie’s gasp echoed through the building. Gabby is also crying and says she doesn’t want to be with Clayton in the end if it has to be like this. Rachel couldn’t understand how he could love two other women and her. (Yes, we’re still trying to figure it out for ourselves.) “I just want to get on with both,” Clayton told Jesse. Really, buddy? That’s your answer, after all this?
Gabby eventually returns, and Clayton tries to reassure her that what they have is real – just as real as what he got with Rachel and Susie, after all. She reminds him that “love” is a big word to throw around. How can she rest easy when he tells everyone he loves them? “Whoever I choose, I love the most,” Clayton told her… and the distaste on the faces of the fans watching live said it all. “F-king’s answer was wrong,” Gabby said later in the confessional. (Damn!) He also sits down with Rachel and tries to explain that he has a “different” love for her than his love for Gabby and Susie, but that doesn’t stop him. water work. “I feel like my heart is breaking,” she confessed before sobbing into his lap. He tells her that he still loves her and gets her to agree to take on everything one day at a time. No, Rachel! Don’t let him go with this!
Clayton has begun to dawn that he is at least partly at fault here… that’s something, we guess? They go through the motions of the rose ceremony, and he offers a weak apology to Gabby and Rachel before giving them both roses. Rachel accepts her, but Gabby stops him: “I can’t, I’m sorry,” she told him firmly. Along the way, she says they really have something special, but the “whoever I love most” answer really hurts her. “Just say you’re sorry or something,” she said. But Clayton keeps trying to get her to change her mind, and we have to wait through the commercial pause – man, this episode is extended – before she starts to waver and waver. Meanwhile, the other Rachel is wondering if she should stay after both women have defaulted to leaving her as the only option. However, Gabby eventually turns around and she accepts Clayton’s rose. Yay, romantic?
After Jesse leaves the action for a pointless segment where he asks the former Bachelor stars for their situation – spoiler alert: They don’t like it! – we went back to Iceland, where Clayton told his family the whole messy story. His mom and dad seem very rational: They think women have a right to be upset and deserve someone who puts them first. (“You spoiled the dog, in my opinion,” chuckles his dad.) Gabby is the first to meet them, and oddly she seems better than all in disappointment. failed last night. In fact, she worries his parents won’t like her because she almost abandoned him! She privately told his mother that she felt like she “couldn’t give up on a man like him” without seeing it. “I’m more ready than ever to be with him,” she said at the end. c. Well, that’s disappointing.
Rachel’s visit with his parents also went well, and his mother even complimented her for refusing to go out after hearing his loud (?!) confession. So both women are back on board! His plan worked! Well, maybe: After his dad told him he could actually make a decision at the moment, Clayton revealed to the family: “His heart is still with Susie! Damn it, man! “It’s just a little more special to Susie,” he said, and he leaned forward when they tried to talk to him. Even though she’s dumped him, he thinks he can win her back – and he tells Jesse he needs to see if there’s anything left. Then Jesse drops a bomb: Susie is still in Iceland. However, will she pull a Cassie and give him another chance? (Because we know how well it went last time.)
