‘The art of defending goes’ – Enzo Fernandez was singled out by Chelsea legend Joe Cole after Borussia Dortmund’s winner

ENZO FERNANDEZ has been singled out by Joe Cole for failing to prevent Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League winner.
Karim Adeyemi put the hosts ahead on the hour with a wonderful solo effort that was enough to separate the teams.

Dortmund broke away from a Chelsea corner on the break, Adeyemi then dribbled the ball down the length of the pitch.
He took on Fernandez in a one-on-one and beat the World Cup winner before rounding Kepa Arrizabalaga and finishing.
But the Chelsea legend-turned-BT Sport pundit believed the record-breaking £107m British man should have done more to prevent the goal.
Cole felt Fernandez should have either pushed Adeyemi wide or even fouled him, Cole felt more should have been done.
He remarked, “The art of defending goes.”
Fernandez might have been the talk of the studio, but Jude Bellingham welcomed Adeyemi’s escape goal.
He said: “Just speed. We’re very confident if he gets the ball one on one. Not many players can stop him.”
“He had a hard time getting here – finding his way – in the beginning and now he’s flying.”

Adeyemi told DAZN: “It’s a case of new year, new happiness. For me it’s that simple.
“As a team we talked a lot during the break and that brought us closer together.
“Tonight’s win was crucial and it was incredible to play in front of those fans. We wanted to give Chelsea a tough game from start to finish and we won.”
