Retail theft has become a growing problem – both in terms of the scale of the businesses involved and the rising costs.

Insider reports shoplifting has become a $94.5 billion problem.

The outlet recently sent reporters to various Walmart and Target stores to look at the various security measures in place to deter would-be shoplifters.

Larger priced items, like Keurig-style coffee makers, have been spotted in the spider-wrap alarm that sounds if the product is stolen.

The same spider webs were also spotted on items at a Target store near Madison, Wisconsin.

The black plastic rope material is often wrapped around objects like a gift.

The ropes are held together by the alarm.

Spider Wraps come in a variety of sizes and have become the security solution of choice for larger, wrapped products, according to Alphaworld.

However, some of the wraps are smaller and work well for products such as poultry and meat.

Smaller spider wraps are mesh cables that create a protective web around a product, according to Alphaworld.

Spider wraps are just one security measure that stores use.

A Walmart in Kentucky installed a mobile surveillance “lot cop” in the parking lot.

There are also anti-theft cameras installed in the aisles of some stores.
