Netflix Movies: Revenge

Release year: 2022

Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson

Cast: Camila Mendes, Maya Hawke, Austin Abrams, Rish Shah, Talia Ryder, Alisha Boe, Ava Capri, Jonathan Daviss, Paris Berelc, Maia Reficco, Sophie Turner, Sarah Michelle Gellar

There’s really no doubt about it take revenge will go down as one of the best Netflix movies of 2022 — if not the Best. The dark teen comedy managed to strike an incredible balance of camp and nostalgia that doesn’t feel cheap or dated (the pitfalls many movies fall into). Instead, we’re left with what could become a modern teenage classic with undeniable rerun value.

Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke, two non-teen actors, play Drea and Eleanor, an unlikely pair of high school seniors and kindred spirits who find common ground in taking revenge on their enemies. Drea and Eleanor team up to get revenge on each other, but that’s a lot easier said than done. And you’ll never see the big twist coming.

Although take revenge is set in high school but none of the teens are played by actual teens, it works and adds to the overall camp of the film. Likewise, it’s just another nod to the many classic teen movies it references so well. Mendes and Hawke are the perfect duo, and the surprising supporting role of Sarah Michelle Gellar is the icing on the cake.

If you put off watching Revenge, This is your sign to finally add it to your watch list. And if you’ve been waiting to watch the movie again, don’t wait another second. take revenge is undoubtedly a must-have Netflix movie that will stand the test of time.

Verdict: WATCH
