Thanksgiving violence leaves 14 dead and 15 injured after a sickening spate of shootings and stabbings

THANKSGIVING violence across the country has killed 14 and injured 15 others.
Shootings, stabbings, family feuds, and other incidents plagued families and innocent victims on Thanksgiving.

Texas
In Spring Branch, near Houston, Texas, a woman’s ex-husband fired shots into her home, leaving two dead and two wounded.
The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. Thursday.
Police said family and friends inside the house were finishing eating when the man burst in and started shooting.
The ex-wife and a man were killed, and another man and a 15-year-old boy are recovering at a local hospital, ABC13 reports.


Other people were present at the time of the shooting, including a girl under 10 who reportedly overslept the incident and was taken from the home by child welfare services on Friday.
“We don’t know where he is. We don’t have his name yet. That’s going to go further,” Cantu, deputy chief of the Houston Police Department, said during a briefing early Friday morning.
“We will be asking for help from the public and the media to help us catch the man who killed two people and injured two in this home.”
In another horrifying Texas shooting, two teenagers were killed while unloading groceries for their Thanksgiving dinner.
The two boys, aged 17 and 18, were shot dead after a fight broke out, police said.
President Wynn was identified as the 18-year-old by his mother, who said the boys were cousins.
“He would have been 19. He would have turned 19 on December 8th. My baby was about to turn 19,” Tasha Cooke told ABC13.
The police are still looking for the suspect.
Illinois
Two people were killed and four others injured in separate Thanksgiving shootings in Chicago.
Two men were shot dead just before 5 p.m. Thursday.
Both were taken to the hospital and are in good condition, reports CBS News.
Later that evening, just before 8 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot dead in a car.
He was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital and later pronounced dead.
A little over an hour later, two teenagers were also shot in a vehicle.
Both were taken to the hospital in fair condition, reports CBS News.
Less than five minutes after the teenagers were shot, a man was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the face and abdomen.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Elsewhere in Illinois, police are investigating a stabbing that injured a college student.
The University of Illinois student approached another man around 2 a.m. Thursday, according to a preliminary police investigation.
The student punched the man, who then stabbed him, reports WCIA.
Surveillance footage arrested the suspect, but police have yet to find him.
Oklahoma
A 30-year-old man was killed in a Thanksgiving shooting in Oklahoma.
The man reportedly attempted to enter a building with a shotgun, ABC News reports.
When police arrived, the man ran away but fired his gun, injuring an Oklahoma sheriff’s deputy.
The deputies then returned fire and killed the as yet unidentified man.
The deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition.
new York
A 30-year-old man was shot dead in the Bronx on Thursday.
Police responded to a 911 call around 10:30 a.m.
The man was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
No arrests were made.
The police are still looking for a suspect.
Later that day, a teenager was shot in the leg near a playground in another part of the Bronx.
Police say the 14-year-old girl was an innocent bystander, according to ABC7.
She is expected to survive.
“I heard shots. About four to five – ridiculous. Even more so on Thanksgiving. It was early, around 2:30 am. It was still daylight, it’s crazy,” Julio Pacheco told the outlet.
Police are still looking for the suspect in this incident.
Indiana
A 20-year-old man is charged with allegedly shooting and killing another man.
Wayne E. McGeorge Jr, 49, was found around 6:15 p.m. Thursday with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.
He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, reports FOX59.
Damion Bryant is being held without bail in the Bartholomew County Jail.
He faces a preliminary charge of murder, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.
Elsewhere in Indiana, another man faces attempted murder charges after he stabbed another man.
Charles Franklin Harris, 58, was arrested after police conducted an initial investigation into Thursday afternoon’s stabbing.
The male victim, also 58, is reportedly in a hospital in stable condition, according to Yahoo.
Harris, who has a criminal record, is being held in the Delaware County Jail.
New Jersey
A woman has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man in New Jersey.
Laquanda Jones, 27, is accused of stabbing Bernie Marshall, 55.
Police responded to the scene just after 3 p.m., according to New Jersey 101.5.
Marshall died in a hospital less than an hour later.
A motive for the incident is not yet known.
California
Police are looking for a suspect who stabbed another man to death in what appeared to be an unprovoked attack in California early Thursday.
According to NBC San Diego, it happened just after 2 a.m. in the Cortez Hill neighborhood of San Diego.
San Diego Police Department officer David O’Brien told the outlet that the victim was walking through a construction site when the attack took place.
The victim suffered stab wounds to her arm, abdomen, back and knees, but is said to be fine.
Police are continuing to search for the suspect, who they believe is 6ft 3in and was wearing dark clothing.
Elsewhere in California, a suspect has turned himself in after a shooting that left one dead and four injured.
Police identified the suspect as Lee Walker, 41.
Walker is accused of shooting five people just before 7 p.m. Thursday night.
The deceased victim has been identified as Lucas Rivera, 30.
Family members started GoFundMe to send Rivera’s body to Mexico where his relatives live.
According to ABC7, one victim remains in critical condition and the others are stable.
The Costa Mesa Police Department said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident.
New Mexico
A New Mexico man has been accused of murdering and dismembering his wife before Thanksgiving dinner.
Karlan Denio, 62, has been charged with murder, according to the Albuquerque Journal.
Family members showed up at Denio’s but had to remove the door hinges to gain entry, the outlet reports.
They then found the remains of his wife, Connie Denio, on the floor of their bedroom.
Karlan reportedly suffers from frontotemporal dementia, which can cause other mental health problems.
He was taken to hospital for treatment and faces open murder charges.
Washington
A man was walking in Seattle, Washington, when he was stabbed from behind, police officers say.
The incident happened around 11:30 a.m.
According to FOX13, the man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A weapon was not recovered and police are looking for a suspect.
Georgia
An apparent murder-suicide claimed the lives of a father and daughter in Georgia Thursday night.
The officers reported for a social check in a home, but did not find the man they were looking for.
However, they found him in a vehicle nearby and a chase ensued, reports News Channel 21.


Police said the suspect, Lionel Edwards, crashed his car into a bush and then shot his young daughter multiple times before turning the gun on himself.
Both died from their injuries.
