An enraged Jamie Carragher beat the Reds just five minutes into the contest, giving Neville a chance to poke fun at Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Carragher tweeted: “Shocking start for Liverpool, stop playing offside and just run back!”

And in response, Neville said, “Thanks Jurgen👍🏻.”

The Sky Sports pundit also tweeted what has now become a trademark of his, the way he sips wine when things don’t go Liverpool’s way.

Full of criticism for his former team, Carragher tweeted at half-time: “I haven’t seen many halves worse than this under Klopp.

“A defensive mess. Matip has to come in for Gomez.”

Rio Ferdinand shared a similar sentiment, blasting the Reds for lack of effort.

He said during the break: “It’s an embarrassing 45 minutes. You cannot accept a lack of effort and listlessness.”

“Liverpool cannot continue with that high line and play offside while the intensity of the team, particularly in midfield, is non-existent.

“You have to adapt. That was evident all season.”
