Texas school shooting survivor, 9, recalls the terrifying moment gunfire erupted before he was shot in the leg by Salvador Ramos.

A survivor of the TEXAS school shooting recalled the terrifying moment when gunfire erupted before the gunman shot him in the leg.

The youth – who was not named – told his grandmother how the shooting “sounded like fireworks”.

The attack was the deadliest shooting at a US school since a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012

She told KENS 5 that Tuesday’s massacre took place in her grandson’s classroom at Robb Primary School in Uvalde.

She added: “He’s scared right now, he said he’s scared but he’s fine.

“It didn’t do any damage, hopefully no nerve damage and stuff, but he’s just been released and we thank God for that.

“We pray for all the children who were kidnapped by this mass murderer.”

On Wednesday it was confirmed that the shooting took place in a classroom, killing 19 elementary school students and two teachers.

The victims were identified as Amerie Jo Garza (10), teachers Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia, Xavier Lopez (10), Uziyah Garcia (9), Eliahana “Elijah Cruz” Torres (10), Makena Lee Elrod, Nevaeh Bravo and Annabell Guadalupe named Rodriguez.

Also among the victims are Lexi Rubio, Rojelia Torres, Jayce Carmelo Luevanos and Jailah Nicole Silguero.

Lt. Christopher Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety said they were in the same fourth grade classroom.

Salvador Ramos has been identified as the 18-year-old gunman who carried out the massacre.

Authorities said Wednesday he barricaded himself in a single classroom and “started shooting at anyone who got in his way.”

Police officers eventually broke into the classroom and killed the shooter.

According to state Senator Roland Gutierrez, Ramos had indicated on social media that an attack could be imminent.

He sent shocking messages to an Instagram user and tagged her with guns in a photo.

“Be right there,” he writes without any explanation, only replies “I’ll tell you before 11am” when the user asks what his original message means.

“I’ll text you in an hour.

“But you have to react. i have a little secret I want to tell you.”

Gutierrez said the shooter “recommended that the kids should pay attention” and that he bought two “assault weapons” after he turned 18.

Investigators also believe Ramos posted photos on Instagram of two guns he used in the shooting.

One of Ramos’ ex-colleagues at a Wendy’s fast food restaurant called the teenager “rude,” the Daily Beast reported.

She claimed, “He was very rude to the girls at times.”

The colleague also claimed he sent inappropriate text messages to female colleagues.

A friend claimed Ramos, 18, shot people indiscriminately with a BB gun.

Others said he became obsessed with the Call of Duty video game and cut his face with a knife just for fun.

According to his best friend in eighth grade, Stephen Garcia, Ramos was also bullied at school.

Before the attack, Ramos shot and wounded his grandmother, then fled the scene, crashed his car into the school and made his way inside, authorities said.

The attack was the deadliest shooting at a US school since a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012.
