Terry Bradshaw recalls how the film’s church scene got him into trouble, saying he did it to “get out of America.”

TERRY Bradshaw says his acting career got him in hot water at his local church.

The NFL Hall of Fame quarterback-turned-broadcaster, 74, recently revealed to CNN’s Chris Wallace that his pastor didn’t see the funny side of one of Bradshaw’s most memorable scenes.

Alongside Hollywood heartthrob Matthew McConaughey in what Bradshaw called “one of the greatest moments of my life,” the scene features Terry fully nude cleaning her fish tank as part of his efforts to get his son (McConaughey) to move out move their house.

Bradshaw told Wallace that he “did that nude scene just to get out of America.

“Just for them to say ‘oh my god.’ I swear I did that because I said, ‘This is going to be so much fun.'”

Unfortunately, he admitted that he hadn’t considered that he was a regular churchgoer.

Bradshaw explained: “I didn’t realize that when this film came out on Friday, my preacher was preaching about the sins I had committed and that I was a bad example for young people.

“And I left that church that morning after being there for so many years – never went back. never back I couldn’t believe he did that.”

However, that wasn’t the only church incident Bradshaw had to deal with after the film’s 2006 release.

He also explained how his mother planned to see the film with her fellow churchgoers, ride the church bus to the movies together, and bring “a cardboard box of food” with her.

And when Bradshaw told her not to go, of course she asked, “Why not?”

He replied with “I’m naked!”

She responded with, “You wouldn’t do that to your sweet old mom.”

But a laughing Bradshaw replied with a simple, “Yes, I would!”

Noting that he’d “enjoyed that scene so much over the years,” he admitted he had “no problem” being nude in the film, and joked that “it’s almost melodrama from behind.”

“If they had filmed it from the front, it would have been a comedy.”
