Terrifying moment Planes full of parachutists collide before bursting into flames in midair

THIS is the terrifying moment when two planes full of skydivers collided before bursting into flames in midair.

The horrifying accident happened during a routine tandem skydive over Lake Superior, Wisconsin, USA.

Harrowing footage shows a group of skydivers preparing to jump as a second plane flies towards them from below.

Seconds later, the planes collide, throwing the parachutists into the sky and causing a fire.

A third skydiver clings to the plane’s wing before finally letting go.

The camera then pans out to show one of the light aircraft diving nose-to-ground.

Skydive Superior Instructor Mike Robinson said the leading plane that crashed had four skydivers on board with its pilot as it was chasing a second plane carrying five skydivers.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident, CNN reported.

The pilot of the lead plane told firefighters that before the jump he heard a loud tape and his windshield was shattered.

Then the plane burst into flames and broke up in midair.

The clip has garnered an incredible 3.4 million views.

One person wrote: “This was so crazy scary. I had to look up the story, shocked to hear everyone survived.”

Another said: “I can’t believe no one was seriously hurt.”

Speaking about the incident, Mr Robinson told The Guardian. “We do this all the time. We just don’t know exactly what happened, what caused it.

“We were seconds away from a normal skydive when the trail plane flew over and landed on the lead plane,” he said. “It turned into a big fireball and the wing came off.

“We all knew we were in an accident … The wing over our head was gone, so we just left.”
