ONE MOTHER of 5 died in a fiery explosion at a Florida gas station after her car crushed her against a gas pump pipe as her two children tried to save her.
Shoi Caballes leaves his Honda SUV at the Circle K/Shell location in Port of Palm on December 22 to pump gas, leaving 11-year-old and 14-year-old children in the car.
Another customer accidentally backed into a gas pump, spilling it on Caballes and pin her to her own car.
Florida Highway Patrol officials told local NBC affiliate WESH2 that “gasoline contact has flared up into flames.”
Caballes’ two children got out of the car after it caught fire, and ran to get a fire extinguisher to try to put out the fire.
However, the dense smoke and dangerous flames proved too difficult to extinguish.
Jared Pierson told Fox13 that he saw children trying to put out fires, called 911, and ran to help.
When the situation proved too dangerous, Pierson focused on leading the two children to safety.
Only after they moved away from the flames did Pierson realize Caballes was trapped in the flames.
“I’ll never forget how hard it was for those kids,” Pierson, who told reporters he was homeless, told a local outlet.
“I want to make sure I show love to my family.”
Shoi Caballes’ five children range in age, with the youngest in elementary school and the oldest in college.
Friends and neighbors saw the family as the backbone of the community.

“Everybody is family,” Arnold added.
“It doesn’t matter who you are. If she saw you for the first time or the last time, she’d treat you like family.”
