This is the terrifying moment when a massive 20-foot great white shark emerged from under a boat while feasting on its prey.
The heartbreaking footage was shot near Guadalupe, an island off the west coast of Mexico that is home to many apex predators.
The clip showed a fisherman standing at the stern of a boat reeling in a line hoping to catch a big tuna for dinner.
Seconds later, a huge shark emerges from the depths of the dark blue ocean and breaks the surface.
Its huge jaws cling to the fish while its shell-like body reveals itself to the fishing crew.
The men can be heard screaming in fear and awe as the shark’s white belly is revealed and blood oozes from the tuna’s head.
Then the beast is seen thrashing about before disappearing with its meal.
The clip recently went viral on social media but was actually filmed in October 2016.
It was captured during a joint scientific research mission between Stanford neuroscientist Andrew Huberman and Hollywood photographer Michael Muller.
The pair explored the “fear” surrounding sharks as Muller hoped to use his footage to create a virtual reality experience for viewers.
During the trip, the men reportedly went nearly 30 meters deep in cages, where they encountered schools of great white sharks up to 6 meters long.
Michael said of his Instagram, “This is such a great visual example of how the fittest survives and how nature will always trump us.”
“We think we have life on a leash, on the hook, and just as we begin to celebrate our greatness, nature comes in and smacks us back to size.”
“Respect nature, take care of this planet, we only have one.”
In 2021, a diver managed to escape the jaws of a great white shark in the same area unscathed.
Terrifying photos also showed a massive 20-foot shark dwarfing a research cage as it swam through a spool of shimmering mackerel.
