Terrible Moment Cockroach invades the Met Gala and scurries across the carpet, almost eclipsing Rihanna

A ROCCH was spotted at the Met Gala just before Rihanna performed at the event.

The crowd screamed as the insect crawled down the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night.

In one wince video, a photographer was seen struggling to get out of the way as a cockroach crawled toward him.

A person was heard shouting in the background, “Take a picture! Take a picture,” while others cheered.

The cockroach made its way down the white carpet when the photographer stopped and took some pictures of it.

Videos of the bug quickly went viral, with many declaring he was the “star” of the Met Gala.

Variety magazine later tweeted to announce that the roach had been killed.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce that the Met Gala cockroach has been stepped on. RIP,” they posted.

One fan wrote, “It’s not the cockroach that’s the star of the Met Gala,” complete with crying face emojis.

Another wrote: “She was the icon that never was…” while a third declared his death was an “absolute tragedy”.

Another user commented, “I think this is the most devastating news I’ve ever heard (I woke up half an hour ago).”

The cockroach invaded the white carpet just before Rihanna arrived with boyfriend A$AP Rocky.

The pregnant woman, 35, wore a white Valentino dress that included a blanket of faux white flowers covering her entire torso and a large train.

To make them look even more dramatic, she wore chunky white sunglasses with huge diva lashes on the front.

The theme of this year’s Met Gala was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty – a tribute to the work of the late German fashion designer.

While many chose to wear his pieces or pay homage to his style, Doja Cat and Jared Leto decided to dress up as his cat, Choupette.

Kylie Jenner wowed at the event in a red one-shoulder dress.

The Kardashians star got to meet sisters Kendall and Kim Kardashian on the carpet.

The trip stopped to chat with Vogue as they walked inside.

Kim, 42, was spotted rocking a dress made almost entirely of strands of beads.

Kendall, meanwhile, has faced backlash over her “tacky” Met Gala look.

The 27-year-old wore a black bodysuit with a glittery white collar in a nod to Karl Lagerfeld.

She was not accompanied by her alleged boyfriend, Bad Bunny – born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio – who is attending the event.

Several Kardashian members didn’t make it this year.

Kourtney, Khloe and Kris Jenner were all unable to attend the prestigious fashion event.
