Ollie, from Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, said of his chipped pet, which he received as a kitten: “I had to rename it, especially since it was a cat.

“He’s even registered at the vet under Kurt so it’s really a bit of a pain. I’m just glad he’s not playing for my club anymore.”

Ollie said: “When I saw that video, I was really disappointed. I had posters on the wall and coffee mugs with his face on it that I don’t know what to do now.

“I liked him at Chelsea because I thought he was a good player with a good sense of humour. He was a role model for me but now that’s all changed.

“For me, it was obvious that I had to change his name, especially since he’s a cat and everything.

“He has a nametag that says Kurt and he’s chipped in under the name Kurt so I’m going to have to change those as well.

“He’s even registered at the vet under Kurt so it’s really a bit of a pain.

“I am delighted that he is no longer playing for my club, West Ham is welcome with him.”
