Taurine Haddon-Harris is the captain of the eels youth hockey league. Haddon-Harris said: “The hockey community is devastated.
Fort Myers Skatium and Florida Everblades pose with hockey sticks in honor of teddy. He died after a high school hockey game in which another skater slit his throat.
Brier Brooks plays for the eel junior hockey team. “For someone dying, it’s obviously a lot heavier because all of his teammates, you know, have to live with it,” Brooks said. “The person who did it clearly didn’t do it on purpose, but he has to live with it for the rest of his life. So as parents, you know, they’re probably all very upset about that, just like we are. “
Several hockey players told WINK News that the hockey community in Florida is tight-knit. They also say that the loss of this young life is particularly tragic.
“All hearts go out to him and his family, and we are all praying for them. But just to see like the hockey community, sending support is like just to raise awareness is [an] great thing,” Brooks said.
Amateur athletes in Southwest Florida are also giving out hockey sticks in honor of that Connecticut high school athlete. Four hockey sticks were presented to Teddy at the Skatium in Fort Myers to honor the young man’s dedication to the sport and his life.
